Ship Capsizes Libyan Migrants
By: Katie Tran
(Source: CNN)

On May 25, 2016, an overcrowded boat suddenly collapsed carrying hundreds of Libyan migrants. When the ship flipped over, it killed 5 people, and injured about 500 people. Most the migrants boarded on the ship were fleeing to Europe because their country is dealing with the Syrian civil war having religious and sectain conflicts with the Middle East.
It all began when the ship first started to tipped on its side due to the maximum capacity. Some migrants knew that danger is coming and swam away, while other migrants hold on to the ship to avoid worst circumstances. The crew members of the collapsed ship threw life jackets and life preservers to helped the migrants in the water. Other members of the Italian navy came to the site to help out as well.
The sea was calm at that time with the temperature of 68℉ ( 20 ℃ ) using the source from U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Another event connecting to this one right now had once occurred in April which was actually far worse. With 500 people dead and only 41 surviving from Libya to Italy, the remaining survivors that time were carried out to Kalamata, Greece a few days later. As the number of migrants of Europe had dramatically increased its population, the migration process became more and more complex as the migrants are heading to their new destinations.

A Trip To Remember

Obama becomes the third U.S. President to visit Vietnam in the post-Vietnam war era, following Bill Clinton in 2000, and George W. Bush in 2006. On his 10th trip to Asia, Obama had dropped by Hanoi (capital) Vietnam on May 25, 2016. Although he was supposed to make the trip to Vietnam last year. He arrived safely, where he was greeted by many excited and eager citizens that waited to get a glimpse of him and even shake his hands.

The U.S. President’s recent trip to Vietnam was to fulfill a promise he had made to Vietnam’s President Truong Tan Sang way back in 2013, which was to visit Vietnam before his term in office came to an end.

The trip is to benefit and improve both nation’s relationship in terms of economic and strategic ties. He also lifted a long-standing U.S. arms embargo (goods that cannot be traded because of political reasons) on Vietnam that had been placed for over four decades. Obama announced that the U.S. government was planning to end the ban in the sale of military equipment to Vietnam. They did this because he thought that their relationship has been progressing and deepening, and that it was appropriate to get rid of the restriction on the military equipment sale.

In addition to visiting Vietnam, he also dropped by Japan; making him the first sitting American president to visit Hiroshima, Japan. The place where the United States dropped an atomic bomb 71 years ago. Although most people of Japan are disappointed because Obama would not be offering an apology for the bombing, they are still grateful for the visit. Obama’s visit to Japan was a symbolism for the two nations that have evolved from bitter World War II enemies to close allies.
The trip all together was a big success! Everyone had a very good time. Obama kept his promise. They’re one step closer to achieving a better bond with Vietnam and Japan.

Manik Sarkar had worked at the school. New Super Bug in the US

A woman from Pennsylvania had faced a case where a germ infection had been announced called E. Coli on May 1st, 2016. The E. Coli in the patient had resisted last-resort antibiotics. The infection had caused her urinary tract and her kidneys to act up, as the E. Coli is getting worse. As doctors are taking samples of the infection it was later sent out to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This has raised the threat of superbugs that can cause untreatable infections because the bacteria can spread and is usually shared with one another (Can be transferred by spoiled water, spoiled food, and being in touch with an animal or person). The superbugs get this strong because bacteria reproduce and learn very quickly ,which allows them to create mutations that make them resistant to antibiotics today. The bacteria is immune to colistin, an antibiotic that is used for dangerous infections that are immune to a drug called carbapenems. If the carbapenem resistant bacteria is immune to colistin, they can become invincible. The CER (carbapenem resistant bacteria) is immune to all antibiotics except colistin.

The school in eastern China has made about 500 students ill ,and the parents of the students there are angry about  the reason why their kids are sick is connected with pollution. The diseases they are getting are as severe as Leukemia. The students complained about the pollution at their nearby field since December 2015 after the students came down with rashes and bloody noses. The officials even say that the soil, groundwater, and air met the  national standards, but the soil and water there greatly exceeded the national standards. The  groundwater samples showed that the amount of chlorobenzene, (is used to make herbicides and can damage the nervous system, liver and kidneys) surpassed the national standard by more than 94,000 times, according to the Chinese news reports.  The report also quoted that the parents and students described the contaminated water and the smell in the air is similar the smell of rotten duck eggs.“The water is strange and tastes a bit sour,” a mother of a student in that area said in the report.“I have leg cramps, pimples, and the skin on my hand is flaky,” a student said. On March 17th, out of 493 of 641 students were determined to be sick after the doctors checked on them. Their illnesses included bronchitis(difficulty in breathing), dermatitis(skin swelling up) and white blood cell deficiencies, and a few cases of leukemia (blood cancer) and lymphoma(cancer in the lymphatic system). China’s leaders was violent towards the chemical companies at the time when the public madness over environmental pollution was mounting. The aftermath of the chemical explosion last year killed 165 people at port city of Tianjin. The companies seem to have caused the pollution in China. Mr. Ma said that the people’s responses is a sign that the awareness of the event is spreading, he says that it would be hard for polluters to escape examination.

Not just they come into Safeco with a very good series but they came in with new owner ships, such as Nintendo giving up the ownership to other people in the ownership group. CEO Howard Lincoln said “ I feel very good about how our ownership group has stabilized this franchise to really ensure baseball will be here for generations to come”. John Stanton, was the name of the Mariners owner, in which gladly he took, saying” I think keeping baseball safe in Seattle is of paramount importance. If there's any goal greater than winning the World Series, it's the goal and commitment to keep this team in this town, I don't think there was a real risk of this team leaving town because this is one of the very few communities in the country that has ever lost two sports teams”. But now the Mariners, just need to wait for the approval from the MLB, which will be given in August of this year in which Stanton will officially take over as CEO and chairman.
Charlie Furbush and Joaquin Benoit are on their track back to the bullpen as they start their rehab, Furbush opened the season with shoulder tendonitis, and Benoit got on the disabled list quite a while ago, with shoulder inflammation after appearing in five games, in five innings he allowed 2 runs on 2 hits. Charlie was set to throw on Monday, with only slightly 10 pitches and light throwing, and Benoit was set to play catch on Sunday.Besides Seattle having new owners, and having pitchers start rehab while on a very good record. They have regained their confidence after ending their 5  series win streak against the Royals, Servais proudly said “I like our club, I like the way it's coming together. We're winning, we're learning how to win. Even the days that we come up a little bit short, we have opportunities. It's not like we're being blasted and getting blown out of the ballpark”.
